If we had to vote, we would argue one of the most exciting times as a couple is the engagement. It’s a time centered around celebrating your love and often includes an engagement party, bridal shower and bachelorette party. And somewhere in between, you get to plan the beautiful details for your Big Day and your married life together. Furthermore, one of those tasks will include choosing your wedding registry must haves. However, if you’re like most, you may not even know where to begin. The best advice we can give, and one we often gave to our couples while we helped plan and design their weddings, is to register based on your lifestyle.
But what does that mean exactly? The best way you can build your wedding registry list is to choose items you will get much use out of because it fits within the activities you enjoy doing in your daily life. Sure, it’s fun to register for all those “nice-to-haves”, but let’s be honest. Most of those items find themselves collecting dust and taking up space somewhere in your home. Instead, think of the type of couple you are together and what registry items will enhance your lifestyle.

For example, do you enjoy entertaining in a home full of guests even if it’s for no special occasion? Do you prefer to be outdoors whenever the opportunity arises? Would you rather stay at home and curl up on the couch indulging in some self care and Netflix? Or perhaps you enjoy cooking in the kitchen together making old and new recipes no matter if it’s just for you or family and friends? Whatever it may be, highlight the wedding registry must haves list you’ll likely be provided while registering and choose items that complement your lifestyle. You will find yourselves using those items over and over, enjoying everything they have to offer in your married life.
With that, we partnered with Bloomingdale’s The Registry and created multiple Wedding Registry Checklists to help you determine your wedding registry must haves based on your lifestyle. These guides were created for The Entertaining Couple, The Outdoorsy Couple, The Foodie Couple and The Homebody Couple.
The Wedding Registry Checklist found in this post is designed for The Entertaining Couple. These are the couples that love to open their doors and often find themselves hosting the game, neighborhood potlucks, The Bachelor viewing parties, holiday get-togethers and everything in between.
If this sounds like you, download the checklist and have it with you while you register in-store or online.
