I will never forget it was a Tuesday. August 7, 2018 to be exact, and only a few days since we had both returned from vacation when Jenna invited me over to catch up on some work. I showed up with folders in hand, ready to get down to business per usual. She led me to the kitchen and casually hopped up onto the counter while we started up our normal chatter about who knows what. As I began setting my belongings on her counter she said, “Guess what?”, to which I replied, “What?”, not giving much thought to what she was about to tell me.
And that’s when she delivered the exciting news that she was expecting another baby! Caught completely off guard, I responded with “What? When did you find out?” only for it to set in just moments later and the tears began to fall. Jenna was expecting another baby! It had been almost four years since she had lost the twins, and God was giving her the rainbow she had been longing for since that storm.
And oh my, how beautiful that season ended up being! Not only did this new baby bring the hope and light we all needed, it was only four days later when I learned I was expecting a little one of my own. Jenna’s dream of being pregnant together was also being fulfilled, and we were due just two days apart! We couldn’t have planned that even if we tried!

Fast forward to March and the time had finally come to celebrate the little girl we were all anxiously awaiting – Charley Lynn. There was no question we would be honoring this baby girl with her very own Rainbow Baby Shower theme, and that’s just what she got.

The Inspiration:
From the beginning, we planned to celebrate our sweet CL with a rainbow baby shower because we knew there was no better way. We also knew it wouldn’t be just any ordinary rainbow. With that, Jenna headed down South to visit Nana, and they made a trip to the local craft store where she carefully selected the colors for #CharleysRainbow. She opted for more earth tones in shades of pinks, yellows and greens, and the combination turned out more beautiful than we could have ever imagined!

The Invitation:
Because this was Jenna’s third baby shower, she requested a Facebook invite versus a traditional one. You may be thinking, “she had three full baby showers?!”, and the answer is “yes”, one for each of her kiddos. While the gift registry may have been smaller for each subsequent baby, I fully believe in celebrating every little one as big as the previous one. So, to honor Jenna’s wishes, I made a simple digital invite that packed a whole lot of truth and showcased #CharleysRainbow.

Rainbow Baby Shower:
One of the best parts of designing Jenna’s Rainbow Baby Shower for Charley Lynn, was creating all the rainbow yarn details. I enlisted Nana to help with making the mini rainbows we used for the beaded banners and as place setting decorations. They also served as keepsakes each guest could take home as a reminder of Charley’s Rainbow of Hope. From there, Jenna’s best friend and I made all the corresponding rainbow tassels that we strung throughout the shower.
Along with Nana’s mini rainbows, one of the most beautiful details was CL’s Rainbow Baby Shower Cake meticulously designed by Alejandra of Everything Cake. You may not know this but Jenna has not had the best of luck when it comes to cakes for her special occasions, so I knew this detail had to be just right. We’ve worked with Aleks many times in the past, and she always over-delivers. Not only are her designs beautiful, they are delicious, and she always produces exactly what we envision. The cake was by far one of the most talked about details at the shower.
Without further ado, here are all the fun, rainbow baby shower details that made up Jenna and Charley Lynn’s celebration. Many of these details now adorn CL’s nursery, which continue to remind us of all the hope she has brought us.
