If you’re on the lookout for ways to streamline your life and declutter your space, you’ll want to know about the top organizing trends for 2023. As we embrace the rhythm of our daily lives within our homes and at work, we’re paying special attention to organizing for maximum impact and maximum success. A lot of that relies on being realistic with identifying issues and incorporating new solutions and habits into our routines. These are some of our favorite trends that we can’t wait to implement in the coming year:

Sustainable organization
With more people becoming eco-conscious, sustainable organization is our first top trend this year. “Sustainable organization” means finding storage solutions and organizing tools made from sustainable materials and designed to last. When shopping sustainably, some of the most common materials are:
- Bamboo
- Cork
- Reclaimed wood
- Repurposed materials
- Seagrass
We’re partial to the beauty of seagrass baskets because of the texture, warmth, and functionality they bring to your home decor and organization systems.

Digital decluttering
Organization trends in 2023 aren’t exclusively physical. As more and more of our lives move online, digital decluttering is becoming increasingly important. This involves organizing and streamlining digital files, unsubscribing from unnecessary emails, and using tools to manage passwords and other online information.
And if you’re anything like us, you have thousands of photos of your friends and family on your phone. Better Homes and Gardens has a great article covering all the basics of organizing your digital photos and prints. When it comes to digital photos, they recommend:
- Delete unnecessary photos
- Organize photos into albums or folders
- Edit photos as needed
- Download and back up your photos
- Delete photos from other devices
Ultimately, the most important takeaway is always back up your devices! I learned this the hard way a few weeks ago when my phone broke. It took over 24 hours of stressful touch-and-go with recovering my photos and files. Thankfully it worked, but now I’m a big supporter of backing up early and often. I’ve found using a portable storage device like this one works well for me, but at the end of the day the best storage solution for you is the one you’ll remember to use!
Multipurpose items
In light of many people working from home and living in smaller spaces these days, multipurpose furniture is a big trend in 2023. Look for pieces serving multiple functions; this desk that can also be used as a vanity and this coffee table with storage are both great options.
It’s not all about buying things, either. We’re big fans of repurposing what you already have on hand to minimize clutter. One of our favorite things to multipurpose is sculptural bowls and pitchers. The pitcher can become your next vessel for a flower arrangement. The large bowl can hold fruit, work as a serving piece during a meal, or be a catch-all for keys when placed on an entryway table.

Minimalist organization
Minimalism will continue to be popular in 2023, and this extends to organization as well. Look for storage solutions that are simple and streamlined, and consider paring down your belongings to only what is truly necessary.
These Decorative Rectangle Brass Latch Boxes, Set of 3 from APIARY are a great example of this. The minimalist design of the boxes fits seamlessly with any decor style and the functionality can’t be beat!

Smart organization
With the proliferation of smart home technology, expect to see more organizing tools and solutions that can be controlled and monitored with your phone or voice. From automated drawers that open and close at the touch of a button to smart shelves that track your inventory, there are endless possibilities for incorporating technology into your organization systems.
Amazon’s Dash Smart Shelf is great for keeping track of household necessities like toilet paper and cleaning supplies or even pantry staples. Use the smart shelf for any item you like to keep in stock and never worry about running out again!
In short, no matter what your organizing style, there are sure to be plenty of options to suit your needs in 2023. So why wait? Start getting your space in order today and enjoy the benefits of a more organized life.
