Well friends, as much as we were hoping things would be different by the time we shared this post, it appears we’ll be celebrating Mother’s Day socially distanced from our dearest family and friends. Last Mother’s Day, the babies were only a month old, so we kept things low key and celebrated at home. This year, we were hoping to plan a Mother’s Day brunch on Mimi’s beautiful brick courtyard where we hosted our baby showers, but since we’re still being mindful of the safer-at-home recommendations, we had to get a little creative. With that, we came up with a Mother’s Day gift idea during quarantine we think the moms in our life will love. So, today we’re sharing all the details and how you can easily personalize it for the special moms in your life, whether you plan to leave it on their doorstep or mail it out!

Mother’s Day Gift Idea During Quarantine
We’re not totally surprised, but Paper Goat Post and Target drive up came in for the win again on this one. We have to admit, it has taken some getting used to not being able to get our hands on these items before purchasing. Typically, we find inspiration for the gifts, tablescapes and recipes we create and then head to the stores to find the details and ingredients we want to use. It allows us to pair different items together and determine what is visually appealing and also functional. Furthermore, we can get a better idea of true proportions and colors, so we can create something we undoubtedly love. However, given the circumstances, we have to work with what we have and that has been utilizing online retailers and local pick up and drop off services.
While we were brainstorming for a Mother’s Day gift idea during quarantine, we began to think about something we would enjoy while celebrating at home. Since we already had brunch on the mind, that’s where we started! We’ve always been keen on creating grazing boards, and what would be better than a Mother’s Day Breakfast Board complete with non-perishable breakfast-inspired delights?! Once we had the idea, we couldn’t stop thinking of all the fun ideas we could incorporate into the gift.
Setting a Budget
When it came to setting a budget for the Mother’s Day Breakfast Board, we put up a poll on Instagram to gauge how much you typically spend on Mother’s Day gifts, and the results were as follows – 57% of you said you spend less than $50, 31% reported $50-$75, 9% reported $75-$100 and 3% reported more than $100. With that, we did our best to keep our Mother’s Day gift idea during quarantine right around the $50 mark (not including shipping or gift wrap).
Choosing All The Details
As for the Mother’s Day Breakfast Board details, we opted for breakfast-inspired delectables that wouldn’t perish if left on a doorstep or sent via mail. We also wanted it to be super simple to assemble, so the recipient doesn’t have to fuss over preparation and can indulge without delay. Here’s what we came up with!
And, we’re giving you a Free Printable Mother’s Day Recipe Card below to include inside your package so Mom knows exactly how to easily style and prepare her Breakfast Board! Download and print below!

There’s nothing quite as special as including a sweet sentiment in your Mother’s Day gift. Set some time aside to write a thoughtful note to your recipient to express your love and gratitude. And if you’re not much of a writer, simply say, “Thank you for all you do. I love you, and I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!”

Personalizing It With Paper
One of our favorite things to do when curating a meaningful gift is to personalize it. Traditionally, personalizing comes in the form of incorporating someone’s name into the gift. While we love this practice, we also love hand-selecting details that speak to the recipient’s personality. Think colors and patterns as well as style and function.
While we were coming up with our Mother’s Day gift idea during quarantine, we decided the best way to personalize it would be with decorative paper goods. Unique colors and patterns could easily be chosen to speak to your recipient’s personality and also serve a purpose when it came time to indulge in the tasty treats. So, we turned to our go-to paper party source, Paper Goat Post, and were beyond thrilled with their collection of decorative plates and napkins. We chose Sweet Lilac, Flower Brights and Garden Party. They are the perfect way to personalize this Mother’s Day Breakfast Board gift to reflect any mom’s personality!
Additional Ideas to Include
In all honesty, we had a hard time narrowing down what to include in our gift because there are so many fun ideas! Our main goals were to keep the breakfast board within budget and to ensure it could fit into a flat rate shipping box.
If you’re looking for some additional ideas to include in your Mother’s Day Breakfast Board that can be left on a doorstep or shipped through the mail, here are several we came up with:
- Hard cheese such as cheddar
- Chorizo or salami
- Scones
- Bagel chips
- Mini Donuts
- Various dried fruit
- Dried apples and peanut butter pouch
- Cinnamon roll mug mix
- Mini syrup
- Coffee Mug
- Tea Towel
Wrapping It All Up
Once you have all your details together for your Mother’s Day Breakfast Board, it’s time to wrap it all up! If you’re planning to drop it on someone’s doorstep, simply place all the items in a decorative basket, gift bag or gift box. If you’re planning to mail it, strategically place each item into the shipping box with the cutting board on the bottom. You could also use some ribbon to tie a bow around it for some added charm.
Also, don’t forget to download and print your Mother’s Day Recipe Card, so your recipient can easily assemble their breakfast board!
