It’s no secret that we love Holidays around here. Any excuse to invite friends and family over for dinner, we’ll take it! Recently, I (Jenna) asked Madison, my six-year-old daughter, to set the table for Father’s Day, and while watching her face light up as she placed each place mat and dish thoughtfully around the table, I was reminded how young we were when our love for tablescapes began. As we shared in our Rosé, White and Blue Fourth of July Tablescape last year, Mimi and Nana taught us the love of serving and hosting at a young age, and as we completed our Intimate Fourth of July Soiree, it became very evident that love has not faded.

Over the years, we’ve heard from women like you, asking where to begin when it comes to putting together a beautiful tablescape, to which we answer, “Focus on the essentials, shop your own home, think outside the box, and consider how you can serve your guests best.”
Creating a beautiful tablescape is more than expensive dinnerware and all the high-end table linens. Being Hostful at Heart is all about cultivating a love for gathering and connection, highlighting the beauty in simplicity, and spending less time running around and more time at the table surrounded by loved ones.
Have you heard the saying, “Quality over quantity?” Consider those two values as you begin planning a party. Intimacy over the masses. A few cherished pieces over mounds of stuff. Slow-cooked over fast paced. As we begin planning any tablescape, menu, and/or party, we resound those phrases in our minds and always consider quality over quantity.
This year, as we planned our Intimate Fourth of July Soiree, we chose to think outside the box and bring the indoors, outside. We encourage you to evaluate your home and consider the new ways in which you can host your guests. For us, sometimes that’s bringing our dining room tables outside, setting an ambiance with special market lighting, and softening the space with outdoor rugs and throw pillows. Other times, it’s transforming our entire living spaces to encourage mingling and conversation. For this particular party, we knew we wanted to enjoy the beautiful blue skies while sipping on fresh squeezed lemonade and giving our guests the joy found in the breeze brushing against their faces as we shared a meal and meaningful conversation.
You too can recreate this intimate soiree by simply focusing on the essentials, shopping your own home, and printing out the free menu we’re providing for you below! We cannot wait to see what you assemble this Fourth of July!
