While the halls aren’t fully decked yet, we love to start incorporating bits of holiday decor into our homes in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. Jenna, for example, likes to have her lit (but undecorated) Christmas tree up in time for Piesgiving to set the holiday mood. By pulling in seasonal (instead of holiday-specific) pieces, we can give our homes a festive, timeless, cozy feel we will enjoy for months to come. With a seasonal base in place, we accent with a few holiday-specific decor items that can be swapped in and out as the holidays come. Keep reading to learn how we’re setting the holiday mood and what we actually plan to use year-round!
Scents of the season
Nothing sets a mood faster than scent. We love how quickly a lit candle can fill our entire homes with an intoxicating fragrance and make everything feel intentional. Even untouched rooms suddenly feel more dressed up. These are the scents we’re loving this holiday season and what will be filling our own homes as we make memories with our families.
Bringing signs of nature and greenery indoors during the holidays is a well-loved tradition. From trees to wreaths to garland, touches of the outdoors provide a beautiful contrast to sparkling ornaments and twinkling lights.
Nothing makes us happier than finding decor pieces we love that can be used year-round and given new life with different styling. These are the pieces we’ve already been displaying in our homes for months or look forward to restyling in the new year.
Warm, soft textures invite your guest to cozy up and stay awhile. The holidays bring out the warmest, softest textiles and we’re here for it. These are some of the home decor pieces we’ll be using as we enjoy the season.
Jingle all the way
Jingle bells and holiday decor just go hand-in-hand. We like to incorporate all kinds of bells in our own holiday decor–from elegant antique bell garlands to jolly cocktail accessories, it’s hard to resist that jingling sound and even harder to not elicit smiles from everyone around.
These are the holiday decor pieces that might not stay out for the entire season, but will make a statement with their big impact. Cute stockings and unique ornaments bring the holiday cheer and layer nicely on top of your regular seasonal decor.
