Halfway Homemade Berry Shortcake Recipe
This recipe includes just a few simple ingredients, capturing the simple beauty of summer living. With fresh strawberries and blueberries, this dessert boasts lots of Vitamin C and antioxidants, nestled in between the sweetness of shortcake and whipped cream. And that shortcake? That’s the Halfway Homemade part of this dessert, as your local grocery store will stock these premade shortcakes (typically in a package of 6) in your produce or bakery section, so there’s no need to bake in order to create this dessert! Finally, the only part you have to actually make is the strawberry sauce, which is so simple and only includes three ingredients: strawberries, sugar, and vanilla extract.

How to Best Serve This Recipe

It’s best to serve up this recipe immediately after making the strawberry sauce so that the warmth of the sauce complements the coolness of the blueberry and whipped cream topping. We always say prep what you can ahead, but it’s absolutely to cook while guests are in your home. This sauce is made in under 15 minutes, and you can always prep the strawberries (rinsing and slicing) ahead of time! When you serve your guests this Halfway Homemade Berry Shortcake, use a serving tray, such as this Galvanized Metal Tray with Gold Rim, to easily transport the dessert to your guests.
What You Need To Make This Recipe
How To Prepare Your Halfway Homemade Berry Shortcake
Begin by cutting off the tops of the strawberries and slicing them into halves. You’ll want to also take a few of those halves and roughly chop them. Then, combine strawberries, sugar, and vanilla extract in medium saucepan on medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. After a few minutes, muddle some of the strawberries and continue to stir occasionally. Let sauce simmer for 10-12 minutes, until sauce thickens. Top each shortcake with strawberry sauce (with those delicious chunks of juicy strawberry!), a sprinkle of blueberries, and whipped cream, to taste.
