Day 6 – Holiday #HostfulHack: Big Batching Beverages
There’s nothing we love more than making our guests feel tended to even if we’re not physically tending to them. This can be achieved through a self-service bar featuring big batch beverages. This practice allows guests to serve themselves as often as needed and to pour as little or as much as they like. It also frees up more of your time as a hostess so you can be present for the conversations and laughter taking place or make final preparations in the kitchen.
Harmony Lynn Goodson’s Big Batch Beverage #HostfulHacks
My goal with every celebration that I host is to always be present with my guests as much as possible. Sometimes I find myself still cooking, cleaning, or doing several tasks when my guests show up. Preparing big batch cocktails can be a great way to eliminate the task of a bartender from your list! Here are my top tips on big batch cocktail serving:
-
Create a self serve bar cart. Put all the items out on a designated bar cart or table area and include a recipe menu so they can create cocktails themselves with the ingredients provided.
-
Utilize a punch bowl. Take care with measurements when multiplying a recipe and don’t forget to dilute your concoctions. Always include a ladle so people aren’t dunking for their drinks.
-
Go the extra mile and make it personal by polling your guests for their favorite cocktails. Create a signature drink just for them and include it on the menu. And don’t forget the garnishes. The pretty details are all part of the cocktail and entertaining experience.
