Day 1 #HostfulHack: Deep Clean Early
When it comes to hosting and entertaining, we cannot stress enough just how impactful deep cleaning early can be when you’re planning to welcome guests into your home. Carving out time to do so in advance (we recommend no less than 4-5 days prior) will relieve so many stressors and to-do’s as you get closer to the big day. Then, the day prior or the day of simply wipe down surfaces as needed.

- Enlist help! With the added tasks that come with the hustle and bustle of the season, we simply cannot do it all and do it all well. With that, enlist help from your significant other, kids and/or others living in your household. Divide the cleaning amongst those individuals and provide several days of notice. Share what day you would like those deep cleaning tasks to be completed (generally 4-5 days before any gatherings) so they can move at their own pace and perform tasks based on their personal schedules.
- Bin or bag it up. As you are deep cleaning, keep two bins or baskets and a trash can handy. Fill one bin/basket with donations and one with misplaced items. Throw trash immediately into the trash can and dispose. Place the donation bin/basket in your car when it is filled and drop at your nearest donation center. After the house is clean, walk through with the bin/basket with the misplaced items and return them to their proper places. If you do not have time to do so, tuck the bin/basket in an inconspicuous spot and return to it when you have time.
- Freshen up linens. This is a cleaning hack that often gets overlooked. Be sure to clean household linens and remove musty smells and stiffness by using this 2-cycle wash method! It will add to the overall cleaniness of your home and houseguests will greatly appreciate the effort.
