It’s a new year, new you, new goals – you’ve mapped out how you’re going to better yourself, your business, your health but have you thought of new ways to spark your relationship? January 15th marks 10 years married for Nick and me, and as we embark on a new milestone, I have been thinking about how I can make this year really special for us, and I’ve come up with a list of 3 Date Night Ideas for Valentine’s Day.
15 years together, 10 years married, children, work, house, and a dog make up for a busy life and little time to date. I remember our first Valentine’s Day as a family of four and celebrating it with the kids. I loved that special moment with my family but I also craved alone time with my husband. There were months when we vowed to go on a date once a week but life kicked in and our weekly date nights moved to every other week, once a month – to now, almost never. So this year, I’m on a mission to set a goal to be intentional to date my husband, especially on Valentine’s Day and think outside the box.

3 Date Night Ideas for Valentine’s Day
NIGHT IN BOXES
Date Night in a Box is one of my most favorite date night ideas for Valentine’s Day this year because all the work of planning the date night has already been done and “planning” is as simple as opening the box! From ‘Painted with Love’ to ‘The Story of Us’ dates, Night in Boxes provides everything you need to create a complete experience together that you can do in the comfort of your own home! Have young children? Put them to bed and open the box! No sitter needed! Have a busy schedule and no time to plan? Pour a glass of wine and open the box! No planning needed!

Traveling can add up and may be impossible with busy work schedules, etc, but a date night idea for Valentine’s Day that will always remain a favorite of ours is a Staycation. We’ve done this in the past and we’re planning a staycation for our 10 year anniversary! A few years back, I drove to Nick’s college and found his car parked in the parking lot. I wrote him a note with an address on it and told him to meet me there. The address lead him to a local resort and we spent 24 hours enjoying all that resort had to offer. It’s amazing how even a single night can help remove all of life’s distractions and help you as a couple zone into the moment.
Our all-time favorite local hotel to visit is The Alfond Inn. Not only is this boutique Winter Park hotel located 10 minutes from our home but it is located right in the middle of Winter Park which makes it easy to walk to local shops and our favorite resturants. From beautiful views in their courtyard to excellent hospitality, The Alfond Inn is the full package.

While we’ve never tried a cooking class together, this has always been on my bucket list and I cannot wait to experince a class with my husband! Nick is the chef in our marriage (I’m all about that takeout life!), and I love the idea of learning how to cook beside him. Groupon is always my go-to for classes and/or group activities. They always have a variety of classes that are affordable. Majority of Groupon‘s local cooking classes range from $19+ per person and the full experience is worth every dollar.
So tell us, what is your most memorable date night for Valentine’s Day or an idea you’ve been wanting to try? We encourage you to think outside this box this year and be intentional to date your loved one well!
