With Boo Baskets mysteriously dotting front porches around our neighborhoods in the days leading up to Halloween, we started thinking–what are some creative takes on the traditional Boo Basket? After all, the surprise and delight that comes with being Booed is undeniable. And the contagious sense of community brought out by a little good-natured mischief only comes this time of year! Keep reading to learn more about three of our own ideas to expand and elevate the Boo Basket concept (and let us know if it inspires any ideas for you in the comments).

We love the idea of making a movie-themed Boo Basket for our own kids and surprising them with some treats and “tickets” for a classic Halloween film. For this idea, Shannon repurposed Max’s treat bag and filled it with tickets to watch a movie at home. Then she added some of his favorite treats to snack on during the movie, bowls for holding popcorn, and new pajamas for a cozy night in.
This kind of Boo Basket can be easily made from things you already have around your home + free printables. But don’t be tricked by the budget-friendly economics of this treat! Creating special memories for your kids doesn’t have to be expensive to yield unforgettable moments that last a lifetime.

This is a more grown-up approach to the classic Boo Basket. You won’t find sticky candy or plastic fangs here! For this Basket, we pulled together some beloved brunch staples–including egg-free pancake and waffle mix from Birch Benders and our go-to mimosa from Ohza.
What’s better than brunch? An easy one! The Birch Benders Pumpkin Spice pancake and waffle mix only needs a little water to produce the perfect batter and this cute spider web-shaped mini waffle maker from Dash go together so well. And no brunch is complete without mimosas! We love gifting these Ohza mimosa cans with stemless champagne flutes to compliment just about any event.
It’s no secret that we’ve got a thing for s’mores. It was only natural for us to come up with a s’mores-themed Boo Basket! Filled with all the goodies you would need to make s’mores, this Basket puts a seasonal twist on the classics. We found pumpkin spice-flavored marshmallows and Maple Truffle Butter Cookies in the aisles of Target and knew they were perfect for this Basket and are as delicious apart as they are together.
Finally, we added some pieces to serve the s’mores: two small plates and these fun Halloween napkins.
