
Content Manager
Part Time | Central Florida or Remote
We are looking for a strategic and self-motivated Content Manager to develop and execute a content strategy plan for The Busy Bee and its blog. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the editorial process including The Busy Bee’s produced content as well as guest contributor content. They will be the primary writer for the site, weekly newsletters and quarterly publications and will work cross-functionally with other team members and contributors to create a consistent voice and message that effectively supports our mission. Furthermore, they will help lead larger strategic decisions on how the site should evolve over time while developing the editorial strategy, managing the editorial calendar and overseeing all site and email copy to ensure consistency. This person will help lead our content campaigns and timelines, evaluate our site performance metrics, collaborate with internal teams, and deliver on mutually agreed upon milestones across our portfolio of products and services.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in journalism, communications, or another related field with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. This candidate is a detail-oriented team player with the ability to work independently and to execute various projects and calendars simultaneously. Additionally, this individual is exceptionally organized with the ability to lead independently and guide projects forward in a timely and growth-oriented environment. Above all, this candidate is eager to grow with our brands.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ideate strategic content ideas for The Busy Bee’s blog, newsletter, quarterly mini magazine, and strategic partnerships
- Manage editorial calendar for blog, newsletter, social campaigns, and quarterly mini magazine in Asana, WordPress, and Flodesk
- Create, write and publish two blog posts and two supporting emails weekly
- Create and schedule monthly newsletter
- Create blog printables and corresponding workflows where applicable
- Create and edit quarterly mini magazine
- Categorize, tag, and optimize blog content to maximize site traffic
- Create supporting Pinterest graphics and long pins to drive website traffic
- Back up old blog content and actively back up new blog content
- Review old blog content and update for relevancy
- Monitor and track insights and performance of recently shared blog content to better understand the audience’s interests
- Assist with weekly engagement activities on blog and respond to comments
- Identify high-performing activities and content for reproduction and scaling
- Identify blogging trends and generate content to align The Busy Bee’s blog with those trends
- Provide support in-office and in the field with content creation for the blog, strategic partnerships, and the newsletter as needed
- Participate in shopping and return trips for content creation as needed
- Create supporting graphics for the blog as needed
- Coordinate blog hosted giveaways
- Write new product descriptions for APIARY website from time to time
- Organize monthly metrics for review and analysis with cross-functional teams
- Stay current on industry trends for possible opportunities to attract new readers and create stronger, more engaging content
- Attend and participate in weekly content development and strategy meetings
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking for a dynamic storyteller with writing experience who possesses the following:
Technical:
- Personal Laptop
- Personal Smart Phone
- Access to High-Speed Internet
Software:
- Knowledge and proficiency in WordPress and Email Marketing Tools (we use Flodesk); Canva considered a plus
- Knowledge of software analytic tools including Google and Email Marketing Analytics to track audience engagement and content performance
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills
Design:
- General knowledge in blog and graphic design
- General knowledge of image and video formats
- A keen eye for visual design
Industry:
- A general understanding of target audience and industry trends
- Interest in lifestyle content related to hosting and entertaining
Communication:
- Ability to write in the company’s style and tone
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with an emphasis on writing skills
- Ability to write informational and emotional copy in English
Management:
- Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and an ability to identify efficiencies and implement processes for streamlining
- Proven ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed, and demonstrate initiative to juggle multiple priorities and complete responsibilities in a timely, growth-oriented environment
- Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to make constructive recommendations
- Balanced mentality between art (creative/content) and science (data) with a customer-centric mindset
Team Building:
- Proven ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong team synergy skills and ability to work collaboratively with others with whom you have no direct authority over
- Excellent ability to establish rapport with others and ability to build strong interpersonal relationships
