We’re always on the lookout for cleaner, healthier alternatives in our lives: from the things we use, to the things we make, and the things we eat. This month, we’re looking at some favorite snacks and challenged ourselves to not only find a Busy Bee Clean Swap to replace the snacks, but were so good we preferred the alternative. We’re really excited to share what we’ve found with you!

Clean Swap 1: HIPPEAS Organic Snacks
To be honest, when we think of guilty-pleasure snacks, cheese puffs are one of the first things to come to mind. There’s something comforting about snacking on those crunchy, cheesy, salty puffs that delights the senses every time. It almost goes without saying, however, that cheese puffs are certainly not the healthiest choice we could make when it comes to snacks. These notoriously highly-processed snacks are filled with fat and sodium (and not much else). We knew there had to be a better way!

Enter HIPPEAS Organic Snacks. You won’t believe how tasty this Swap is! Made from chickpeas (instead of corn), these addictive vegan puffs are packed with protein and filling fiber to satisfy cravings and leave you feeling full. Dusted with vegan “cheese”, these snacks are just as light and crunchy as the junk-food alternative. Our favorite flavor is white cheddar and we’ve noticed a bag of HIPPEAS never lasts long in our homes!
Clean Swap 2: Dave’s Killer Bread
Whether we’re craving an avocado toast or a quick sandwich, bread is a frequent component of many favorite snacks. Sadly, the white bread so many of us are used to has highly-processed flour and filled with additives. Our goal was to find an alternative that would nourish our bodies, but also be tasty enough to snack on alone.
Meet our new best friend, Dave’s Killer Bread. Dave’s Killer Bread–we love their “White Bread Done Right”–doesn’t use bleached flour and each slice includes 10 grams of whole grains! The smooth texture of this bread is perfection. This bread tastes out-of-this-world. Not only did Dave’s pass the taste test for individual slices, but our families loved having sandwiches, grilled cheese, and toast using this. No preservatives, no artificial ingredients, no high-fructose corn syrup…no hesitation with this Swap!
Clean Swap 3: BEAR Fruit Snacks
This swap was a pleasant surprise. We can all remember back to those lunchroom memories filled with bartering, trading, and negotiating lunch components with our friends. Fruit Roll-Ups were a top-tier lunch time prize. Maybe it was the bright colors or the sugary taste but something about those fruit-flavored snacks was delicious enough to make us overlook how they were constantly stuck in our teeth.
Now we have BEAR Fruit Snacks! For this Clean Swap, we were so happy to find BEAR’s Raspberry Fruit. These delights are 100% fruit and nothing else. These have no added sugar, are gluten-free, vegan, and Kosher. We love the concentrated raspberry taste of these and don’t at all miss having a weird film in our mouths. Our kids love the taste of these and we love how convenient and portable they are.
Clean Swap 4: Simple Mills Almond Flour Crackers
Okay, so this one has actually been a Busy Bee Clean Swap of ours for a while now. We love offering our friends and family an alternative to club-style crackers that was nutritional and tasty. What more could we ask for?

Simple Mills knocked it out of the part with their Almond Flour Crackers. These tiny-but-mighty crackers are made with almond flour, sunflower seeds, and flax seeds. We love that these are gluten-free, corn-free, grain-free, and dairy free and satisfy almost any dietary restriction of our families and guests. We recommend you pair these crackers with some of Mimi’s Egg Salad, a slice of cheese, or just on their own. The Simple Mills Almond Flour Crackers are a pantry staple!
