The story of The Busy Bee is one we hold close. A dream of owning a business together stirred in our hearts from an early age as we witnessed the men in our family work together as entrepreneurs to build not only a profitable business but a life they loved and a legacy we admired. Birthed from teenage inside jokes and a longing to work with one another, the Bee essentially became a baby of ours born in 2013. What once began as a boutique Wedding Planning company has now become a community of women who are passionate about opening their doors to loved ones to foster connection with one another and deepen their relationships.
The Busy Bee is now a “how-to” per se; How to host and entertain in your home with purpose; How to intentionally prepare for gatherings; How to spend less time in the kitchen and more time with loved ones. And as we honed in on our mission here at The Busy Bee this last year, the mission itself clearly paved the path for the next step in our company; An opportunity to provide the tools and resources essential for creating meaningful moments while spending quality time with loved ones.
A few years ago, Bobby, Shannon’s husband, received an email with the “Word of the Day.” Patterned across his screen, and soon Shannon’s, the letters a路pi路ar路y emerged from the screen and engrained themselves in Shannon’s memory for a day such as now. Apiary. And so, one may call this a coincidence, but we know God has a plan and works things for good in His own time frame. We are eager to step into this new season He has called us to and bring you along with us every step of the way.
As a result of the inability to source specific product designs and the spark in our drive to scale our business after finishing the book Make Life Beautiful, the urge to expand our company grew immensely the second half of 2020. After all, if we are feeling there’s a gap in the hosting and entertaining sections of our local stores, certainly you must be feeling it as well.
We challenged ourselves to visualize the future for The Busy Bee and design a road map to transform our long term goals into a present day reality. And so, at some point in October, we decided to take a step in the right direction and make things happen.
We’re opening a store.
As you know, we are passionate about gathering and being in community with one another. Our grandmothers instilled this value in us at a young age as they served our family weekly with their undivided attention and a home-cooked meal. It has always been a dream of ours to open a brick and mortar to be able to do the same, connect with you off-screen, while encouraging you to gather with one another intentionally to deepen your relationships.
Likewise, we’ve learned from our grandmothers the importance of owning a curated collection of entertaining essentials to simplify the way in which you host to refocus your attention while entertaining in your home. Time connecting with others is time well spent.
While drafting our mission and business plan for our new venture, it became evident we longed to merge the two to effectively live out our mission.
Apiary provides sophisticated yet approachable hosting and entertaining essentials to help busy women spend less time in the kitchen and more time with loved ones, and soon, will serve as a place where our Bees, such as yourself, gather with one another.
And so, we invite you to join us in this journey as we expand our mission of sharing the ‘How To’ by providing you the tools,聽through Apiary, to live out a life connected with your loved ones.
